This Year’s Big Creative Project

October 31, 2019

A little over six months ago I sent my niece a text asking her if my sister liked a wall hanging I created a few years ago, that’s hanging in my dining room. I wanted to know if she felt my sister would like one in her own home and, if so, I’d make her one for our birthday. ⁣

My niece said she was sure my sister would love one so I went out, bought some yarn (in colours my niece thought would look nice in my sister’s home), pulled out my homemade loom, set it up, and started weaving.

A month ago I finally finished the hanging. There were times when I didn’t do anything on it for four or five weeks – my excuse was that I was allowing my creativity juices to flow at their own pace – but clearly I wasn’t in any rush! ⁣

There were also times when I had no idea what the finished product would look like as I make the pattern up as I go – but I will say that I was very happy with the finished product. I even added a crystal to it and did some super fancy (for me) weaving. ⁣

Recently my sister got to unwrap it. All she has to do is find a stick to hang it (as packing and posting one didn’t really seem like a sensible option!).

Will I create another similar hanging? I’m sure I will – just not right now! They’re quite large and need A LOT of patience! ⁣

Perhaps next time I’ll create something a little smaller!

This is what the finished project looked like.

With much love,

Helen xx
