Let’s Talk About Creativity For A Moment

December 12, 2019

See this wall hanging?

I made it, for my sister for her (our) birthday.

I am by no means an expert weaver. This is literally only the second ever weaving / wall hanging I’ve ever created.

I did the first one about three years ago when Hubby was really sick and bedridden for two weeks with a hideous virus. I was managing him and our son and everything else (like most women do!) and found I needed to do something to calm myself, so I went out and bought a cheap art canvas, stripped it bare, and created my own loom.

At night, when everyone was in bed asleep, I’d sit up late weaving.

This in itself says something because I’m usually the first in bed, but by having the house to myself, in silence, I’d sit and weave.

And it would create a space of self healing and nurturing, allowing me to go to bed calm and wake up the next day ready for what lay ahead.

You might not be into weaving but I guarantee there’s something creative you can do to help bring some sense into your world, particularly if it’s a little crazy!

I once collected five shells off a beach, brought them home, and strung them together with some twine to make a hanging. Super simple but now when I look at it I remember where I was, who I was with, and what I was doing.

So maybe add a little creativity to your weekend (or sometime soon!). You never know how good it will make you feel!

With much love,

Helen xx
